Sharing my journey with mild traumatic brain injuries is important to me and has become part of my healing and transformational journey, as I learn to embrace a new reality. I also hope that by sharing, it may help educate others about the seriousness of so-called "mild" traumatic brain injuries, while bringing those that suffer hope for improvements in care, and the confidence to find the support that will serve them best.
Surrender to the journey - is not at all about giving up! It is about acceptance of where you are each day, that allows you to move forward with grace. Trust me, it's much easier said than done. I rely heavily on my own support network and would be lost without them.
Our bodies have an innate ability to heal from within. It takes a sh*t-ton of effort, time and the right support system to make it feasible. I assure you it is a far better option then prolonged use of pharmaceuticals that have an endless lists of side effects and risk of addiction. This journey has become my fulltime job (not by choice) and every day brings a new reality. I intend to navigate this path and course correct as often as needed so I live life to the fullest.
The process of sharing forces me to put my thoughts together, read, and speak which helps my brain improve - I just have to be creative to minimize screen time to avoid increased symptoms and head pain.
It's a balancing act and new reality for me....and right now I need a new creative outlet above the water!
Advocate and empower yourself along your journey!
Despite the feelings, you are truly not alone on your path.
